Futuristic Holographic

Allo there chaps!

I got some really cool new polish from Sephora this past week. I have been waiting for months for it, and they finally have it in stock! Yay me!

So I used three polishes today to get this effect. The first is a dark teal black, and then I layered a holographic topcoat over it. The top coat has all these pieces of foil in it and in the sunlight they change colours slightly. I then topped it all with a matte top coat, which is the coolest thing added to my collection.

Since sunlight is the key factor to the coolness of this mani, I've had to wait a few days before I could take a good picture. I painted my nails after it got dark and I kept missing my opportunity, until today!

So here she goes, its a few days old so there are some imperfections.

Sunlight! You can really see the green and yellow tint to the foil here.

This angle shoes the blue in the foil

A little bit of green and blue.

Even with the matte top coat, the polish still has a slight shine.

This one is quite blurry, but shows the colours so well that I just had to include it.

My new favorite polishes! Gah!

I am so in love with this combination, I have so many new ideas from these polishes!

Polishes used today (in order of the photo) :
Nails inc. London - 381 Kensington
Nails inc. London - 401 The Wyndham
Nails inc. London - 221 Westminister Bridge

You can find all of these polishes at Sephora, but Kensington and The Wyndham come in a set. You cannot buy them separately.
Man , now I want to buy all the holographic polishes I can find, they are so awesome. Haha what a loser I am.

See you soon xxo

ps what do you think of my newer layout?

BAM!

Aha! I have another post! Weeeeee!

Did something simple tonight, used some new polishes and I`m all done :)

Used flash to try and get the colours right. My camera really does not capture it.

Without flash. It won`t rotate, sorry. The colour is not as orange in real life.

Thumby thumb. No flash.

Awkward hand, no flash.

Polishes used:
Revlon Classic Nail Enamel - 920 Make Mine Mango
Revlon Classic Nail Enamel - 762 Plum Attraction
Seche Vite Top Coat

I did two coats of Make Mine Mango and added one coat of top coat. Next I used my Konad plate m57 with the Plum Attraction to make the flowers. I then added another layer of top coat and voila! Is finished.

Hurray!

New additions to the family!

My nail polish family that is! Since I am super lame and have no life, I decided to have a photo shoot with my new nail polishes. Lame right? :)

I have thirteen new bottles and I'm excited to try them all. I have used a couple by now, but most of them are unused. Ohhhh the suspense!

And this is how she goes:

That`s it for now my dear readers, I`ll have something new for you soon, maybe later tonight. I still have some Christmas and New Years themed nails that I haven`t posted yet and that I don`t have pictures of. So what I think I`ll do is do just one or two nails in that design.

See you soon!

I am not happy

Ok so I'm a little upset. Yesterday I went and got my nails done because I was feeling pretty crappy. My wisdom teeth have been hurting like a bitch lately so I figured some nails would cheer me up.

I wanted to get some UV gels done, since I haven't had much luck with acrylics in the past. The little Asian lady said sure, no problem and set to work. Now I'm not stupid and I know the difference between UV and acrylics. Acrylics cure (or harden) in the air, so they stick your hand under a small fan. UV gels cure under a UV light (hence the name) and cure much faster.

Usually UV comes in the form of a gel, so when the lady pulled out a container of powder, I got a little worried. I looked at the container and saw that it said "cures under UV light" so my worry went away for a little bit.

She mixed up the powder with a liquid and did a couple of layers on each nail and told me to stick it under the fan. I figured she was going to do another layer after she was done with my other hand and then put both under the light. Nope, she didn't.
So now I didn't really say anything because it was hard to hear her and understand her in the first place, so I let it slide. I thought "Hey, its only a few extra bucks. I'll just never come here again." So I just let it go.

She cut and filed each nail, which is very uneven. I said I wanted square shaped with the corners rounded a little bit so they weren't sharp, she gave me some weird ass shape. I look at them now and you can see every imperfection on my actual nail and there are tiny little bubbles in some of them. WTF?

Then I go to pay, I planned on not tipping her because she didn't do an amazing job. She then tells me that her debit machine is not working right now so I have to go next door to use the atm. she told me to take my coat because it's cold out. She didn't ask me to leave anything behind so that I would for sure come back, no collateral, nothing. So what do you think I did? Of course I left, I did not go to the atm, did not go back to pay her. If she's going to be that stupid and not even watch to see if I'm coming back, I'm obviously going to just go  home. Plus I wasn't happy with what I got. Oh and did I tell her she over-charged me in tax? Yeah I was not a happy camper.

So I tell you this so you never, ever have this experience. Know your shit before you go in and speak up. I know I should have said something, but I didn't.
TIP! Never go to Rose Nails on Rideau Street in Ottawa. I know I won't be going there again.

I have included pictures, but you cant really see them clearly as they were taken with my webcam. I am entirely out of double AA's for my camera right now so this will have to do.
I really apologize on the quality of the photos. The last one shows one of the bigger bubbles (on the white tip) which I hate so much.

I will add that they look nice from far away, just not up close. Gah. Whatever.

That's all for now!
xxo

Hello lovelies!

A Happy New Year to all!
Hope everyone had a fabulous and safe night last night and rang in the new year with style. I have a ton of things to show you all, including many new additions to my nail polish collection. However, I simply still have no time to post all of it at this moment. Over the next few days I'm going to be compiling all of the designs I have done recently and slam them all together into one large post. I can also promise at least 1 tutorial :)
See you soon and send me your requests!
